The Luxe
Scandalous! In 1899, two upper class teens are betrothed for the good of family money and reputations even though they have no interest in each other. A multi-layered novel told in the perspectives of 4 characters has plenty of twists and love triangles. Although a bit breast heaving and dramatic at times, it's an exciting read that is sure to appeal to teens who are smitten with Gossip Girl and the likes, and may even appeal those devour the Gemma Doyle trilogy, which takes place in the same time period. The setting leaves the story open to less language and sex, which may be a happy comprise between mothers who aren't ready to introduce those topics to their teens, and teens who are dying for some excitement in literature.
